1) Hi Witness long time no speak ... tell the readers what has been happening with your ministry during the last 12 months?
Well over the last 12 Months I have just been building my company Mentoring Through Music Ltd Which has been a challenge and a blessing t the same time. I have also been blessed to be working for a college called access to music teaching MC skills which makes me the only only person in the country to teach GCSE and A level Rap LOL!!!! Only Jesus.
What is mentoring through Music I hear you ask?
Mentoring through Music Ltd is based on the philosophy and ethos that every child matters and that every young person has the ability to be a Star, despite background economic status and environmental factors. One of our entities being foundations for life was developed to address controversial and hard to tackle issues that we find difficult to educate our young people in. Mentoring through Music aims to provide practical consultation to those who deliver to young people on the verge of exclusion, educationally, socially and those at threat from being criminalised,with the view point that if you change their belief you can change their behaviour.
We work at three levels
i) MC Mentors
ii) Six, eight and thirteen week programmes
iii) Concerts and conferences
2) The video 'Respect Yourself' is getting plenty of online views (scroll down to watch) can you explain the context of the track?
Respect video is one the releases that came off my album foundations for life
The whole aim of the respect song was to highlight to young people the importance of respecting themselves their family members and society as a whole,
the intro says. "First you learn, then you earn, then you have to return, Are You Ready!!! "
3) Where was the video shot?
It was shot on location in Birmingham from a school, to a police station and right in the heart of the zone on an estate
4) Okay so is 'Respect Yourself' going to be featured on the new album 'Foundations Of Life'?
Yes it has been added on the album
5) Talk to us about the album, what, when, where etc?
‘Foundations For Life’ addresses the issues that are ‘real’ and relevant to young people. my intention is for them to go away with a clear and positive message about the problems and concerns that affect them.
When I wrote the Album I aimed it first to the eduction and social justice arena to get the people who make decisions on board and now that I have done that I am ready to release it officially in Oct 08 I had a pre release last year but now I have online distribution so we can move forward
