Grand Theft Auto Part 1

Grand Theft Auto Part 1

Ever had or, know someone whose car has been vandalised or stolen? In my early 20’s I got myself in a situation that resulted in my car having it’s window’s, mirrors, lights all smashed in, in the middle of the night!

In another situation I was walking up a street in Liverpool’s City Centre, I witnessed a car on bricks (please don’t stereotype) but this thief had a sense of humour, they stuck cardboard cut out wheels on the bricks!

After a heavy day I once came out of work with my boss into a staff car park and she realised her car was stolen and gone mid- conversation!

I even heard at a football match where some young lads were asking for 50p to look after your parked car. One man replied “my dog can look after mine”. After 3 minutes up the road, with all the fans walking to the stadium, a young voice shouted out “Hey mate, your dog may look after your car but can he put out fires?”

In the 21st Century does “Grand Theft Auto” (a popular Playstation game) speak a message loud and clear that people and property are fair game? Do we get desensitised to an aftermath of consequences to those who are victims as long as we’re ok? Can we really live with taking what we want out of life?

Time to dig a little deeper…….

Can it be spiritual too?

“What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself?” Matthew 16v25 (TM)

Automobile – A vehicle taking you to a destination!

What is your vehicle? I’m talking ministry, destiny, I’m talking where do you want to take other people to?

The Bible makes it clear we all have a purpose, a destination. God has designs on us. We all have gifts and have an important, unique part to play. Without provoking too much controversy He wants to ‘Pimp our ride!’

But it doesn’t stop there…..

There is a Grand Theft on to steal your Auto.

John 10v10 “The thief comes only to kill, steal and destroy”

The devil has an automatic scheme, a plot, a strategy to steal your ministry and purpose away from you. He will do it by distractions, by destroying your credibility, by temptation, by hurts and pain, by rejection, by guilt and by a culture! You are a target!

Time to fit some anti theft devices.

My alarm goes off when…..

1.I don’t recognise God’s voice, (any thought that doesn’t match up to the Word and the character of God is someone ‘climbing in by another way’ John 10v1.)
2.If something drives me away from God rather than to him. (I am often self seeking looking at my inadequacies, failures, and value all the time, failing to realise that God knows that I will never be adequate but he still chooses to use me because it’s His strength that works in me!)
3.I am tempted (Jesus can empathise with every temptation and I mean EVERY, but He was without sin). James Chapter 1 tells us that temptation isn’t from God but temptation leads to desire and desire leads to Sin and that’s the problem.
4.I’m too busy doing stuff, fulfilling an important schedule and have not got enough time for people or my relationship with God.
5.A situation, action, event or person reminds me of something I feel pain over. Then I know it’s time to give it to the Lord for that is what the cross was and is all about!

The power to overcome is in our road of thought. Look at these journey patterns:

A-Road

-I feel bad about myself
-Someone deliberately shuns me
-They don’t like me (like other situations I experienced)
-My life is not what I want
= I hate being me! (Destination)

B-Road

-No one cares
- I feel better when I’m on the Internet
-Just one more look at those images
-A sexual release makes me forget
-But I feel guilty
-Despite the guilt I just need to do it again
-I cannot stop (Destination)

‘The thought’ is the fight over your stolen property. The devil wants you taking that journey!

“Someone deliberately rejected me!” “That didn’t feel good!” Both are true. It is not just about ignoring them

Now here’s your driving lane. Make an in-road into your destiny!

In-Road

-What happened is real and it hurt
-But Jesus loves me
-What he thinks of me is more important, He made me as I am
-My future is in His hands
-He says and promises that He has the best for my life! (Destination)

Suddenly, you create a new road, a new direction in thinking, a highway or a higher-way!
Pray. Walk. Read. Chat. Get on the phone. Make a cup of tea (so British!) Just change your lane. Don’t let the thief go and take what’s yours! It’s illegal and He shouldn’t have it!
Take it back! Your Auto (ministry) is God given and no one else has the right to it! Jesus says over your life right now “No one can steal you out of his hand.” (John 10:26)

In the words of Tye Tribbett (Victory Live Album):

“You got some things, I think you owe me.
I’ve come to get back everything that you stole. I want it all back!”

Thanks Pastor Jonny, awesome teaching. "My Sheep Know My Voice". Discerning the voice of God stops the enemy from misguiding and leading you astray
