21:03 - Total Attention
2103 Total Attention

21:03 - TOTAL ATTENTION, Yet another PAJAM seed, who are PAJAM I hear you ask, Paul 'PDA' Allen, Walter Kearney and J Moss (if only one name you recognize), the very successful trio, whose success reigns with the likes of Destiny’s Child, Boyz II Men, N’Sync, Backstreet Boys, Dru Hill, Sisqo (well they go in hand mais non?) Kelly Price, Patti LaBelle, Karen Clark-Sheard , Hezekiah Walker, Trinitee 5:7, Mighty Clouds of Joy (can I stop now?) and their own artists Ramiyah, J Moss and now 21:03.

So what does 21:03 stand for? one would be forgiven to thinking it was referencing a scripture, as did I, in anticipation to know which scripture had them so enlighten… oh? I am wrong? Indeed, for 21:03 stands for 21st day of 2003, the day Evin Martin, Sean Grant, and Torrance Greene were conceived as a GROUP!! (Oh – ok then!) Total Attention, the second in their catalogue of albums, follows the 2006 debut PAJAM PRESENTS 21:03, was released in July, I know J. Moss music too well so I thought I would give it a review!

Track Listing

‘RIVERSIDE’ opens the album, you know that traditional spiritual classic, Down by the Riverside, lots of RnB harmonies and vocal riffs, ok let’s get ready!

‘HOLDING ON TO YOU’ is this not the Ne-Yo Track So Sick???? Still it’s nice and it gets my head nodding, I mean really does simple RnB 2 step, but with the well recognized J Moss harmonies simple lyrics, but captivating!!

‘NOW’ Ok so I know what to expect; whilst I like the RnB soulful grooves, I feel this track a little OBVIOUS, but still I like it!!! You know I am SOULFUL queen, nothing too new here, Baseline, a banger for sitting in Traffic...if you are a SlowJams lover, this one’s for you!

‘TIME FOR A CHANGE’ has that sinister Hip Hop dark streets and steam rising from the grates feeling. The hook is somewhat a little overkill, a little rock electric going on...

‘TALKIN BOUT’ Ok now by this track on the album, I realise, perhaps I’m a little old in the Ear for this album! But I like the pace very teenager head bopping, its a ringtone track!

‘U GOT ME THROUGH’ another mid up tempo track, yes I will play this one on my show, a i nice tribute to the 23rd Psalm, a la Mr. James Moss vocals .Definitely one to have on the iPod when neck is in much need of exercise!

‘THE POWER OF CHRIST’ Well one for the more tradtional-esque Gospel lovers out there, A ball park ballad, with no compromise on soul or passion for Christ!

I do like a nice LIVE recording! A track that could only be justified with a video, in a stadium concert, with lots of crying teenagers and swaying scarf’s up in the air! A cracking track you can only imagine being blasted on all radio stations across the Caribbean!

To be very honest, I like a good vocalist and my only comment would have been to make more in the like of track 13 ‘TESTIMONY DEDICATION’ – what a shame it’s a short stuff reprise! But hey they album is rounded off for my benefit with a nice easy listening bass offering slow jamming –

‘EVERBODY CAN’T GO’ Shame really, that’s at my pace!, but even bigger shame is what great track, for such sad lyrics, just makes you want go a PRAY for all your unsaved loved ones!!

And no I didn’t forget! ‘COVER ME’, for me the biggest track of the album, albeit an obvious one , featuring Fred Hammond,

Smokie Norful and J.Moss, now for me THIS IS GOSPEL so nuff said!

All in all, nothing of great surprise, a nice hard working effort to facilitate the growing saints, a couple safe tracks for good measure and yes, an RnB Gospel album, that DOES WHAT IT SAYS ON THE TIN! Go buy!
